WHO WE ARE

Calvary South Lakes Church

is one of a worldwide network of over 1,800 Calvary Chapel Churches. These fellowships grew out of the ‘Jesus movement’ that began in California in the late 1960s. Calvary Chapel is not a denomination but a fellowship of churches who share in a common philosophy of ministry.

At the heart of the Calvary Chapel movement is a passionate commitment to the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the teaching of the Word of God. Whilst our ministries are varied, our mission is simple: to proclaim Jesus as Lord & Saviour, and to make disciples of Jesus Christ, unto the glory of God

It is this commitment to the Gospel and the Word of God that has seen over 30 Calvary Chapel churches planted in the UK alone over the last twenty years.

“For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.”

— Psalm 100.5

A brief history of ‘Calvary South Lakes’

Calvary South Lakes (then ‘Calvary Chapel Kendal’) began Sunday worship services in Kendal in July 2006. In 2007, services were relocated to the village of Staveley, where the church continues to hold its Sunday morning service.

Over the years the church has seen followers of Christ from all around the South Lakes area - and beyond - faithfully commit to the life of Calvary South Lakes. And, to better reflect this diversity of backgrounds and communities, the church changed its name to Calvary South Lakes.
